General Expectations of On Base Players and Parents

  1. During baseball season, baseball comes before out-of-season sports.  Your son is expected to attend all practices and games.  It is understood that during the winter practice season your son’s in-season sport comes before baseball.
  2. If your son is sick and misses school, they should also miss practice.  This keeps illnesses from spreading to the team and provides your son with time to rest, which is the best way to feel better faster.
  3. Lines of communication for concerns/issues
    1. 1st Line of Communication: Your son talks with their Head Coach
    2. 2nd Line of Communication: Parent talks with their team’s Head Coach.  Please follow the 24 hour rule, this ensures conversations are civil and hopefully fact-based, not overly emotional.
    3. 3rd Line of Communication: Parent talks the Club VP of Coaches Mark Leoni or Club President Mike Tennies.

Indoor Practice Facility Information

Our indoor practice facility is located at J&K Fieldhouse, 3744 Lovers Lane.  It is approximately 2 driveways to the north of Kwik Trip on the same side of the road. Each team is assigned a practice time slot which will be communicated by your coach.  Please note it is expected that younger teams will practice earlier at night and older teams will practice later. The facility is shared with Slinger Storm so a lot of coordination takes place to ensure all of our teams have a designated time lot.

There are a few things that we ask of you as parents regarding the use of the indoor facility.

1. Absolutely no food, seeds, or gum on the turf. This turf was a huge investment for our clubs and we need to take care of it so we can utilize the life expectancy of 12-15 years on this turf.

2. Absolutely no spikes allowed on the turf. Please have the boys wear boots, sandals or an old pair of shoes to the complex (especially in the messy winter months) and then put on their good shoes for practice. The more slop and salt that we can keep off the turf the better.

3. The landlords require each player to have a signed waiver that exempts them from being responsible for any injuries that might happen while at the complex.  This is required to be turned in as a hard copy during the registration process.  Your son CANNOT use the indoor facility until this form is completed and handed in to Michelle Kelly.  The players and coaches are covered under our insurance policy.  Parents and other family members are limited to behind the fence while practices are in session.

Parents and athletes need to manage their SportsEngine accounts to ensure they get the most out of their Slinger On Base Baseball Club experience during each sporting season. With their accounts properly configured, athletes and their families will receive communications according to their preferences and be able to complete registrations more efficiently.  SportsEngine has created a Team Management Guide for Parents and Athletes that will help our members with frequently asked questions about our website and mobile app.
